Kindergarten uses Hands-On, Listening, and Small Group Activities to Develop Reading, Math, Phonics, and Writing Skills.

First Grade emphasizes Foundational Reading, Writing, Phonics, and Math Skills.

• Reading Differentiation using Leveled Readers, Reading Aloud to Adults, and Accelerated Reader Quizzes.
• 6+1 Traits of Writing used to Instruct Writing Across the Curriculum, including Journals, Individual, and Published Class Books.
• Spelling Words based on Weekly Phonics Lessons.
• Poetry from Maurice Sendak and Other Authors Studied.
• Math Focuses on Daily Math Facts and Problem-Solving Skills.  Centers and Games Differentiate Learning.
• Social Studies and Science are Integrated through-out the Reading and Religion Curriculum, along with Writing, Experiments, and Poetry.
• Students Learn and Recite Basic Prayers.  They lead all-school Mass twice per year and attend the Stations of the Cross during Lent.
• Study trips to Orchard, Nutcracker Ballet, Hendricks Regional Hospital, and the Indianapolis Zoo.

Second Grade continues Developing the Skills from First Grade to Propel Students toward Third Grade.
